Why I am here
I truly believe that we can create a life that we love to live. We design our lives, not our jobs, not our extended family, not our past, but us. We do that by being intentional about how we are spending our time, our money, and our life. I have been on a mission to creating a better life for my family since my little one was born in 2013. Through the years, I have found a lot that could help others on the same path. So, why not share?
A bit of history
My professional education is actually in nursing. I worked in all different fields of nursing for 12 years with my last 5 years being in mother-baby units. Caring for mothers and their new child was such a passion of mine. I felt great accomplishment in helping a couplet establish breastfeeding, new parents gain confidence in the smallest tasks, and coaching new mamas to confidently take on their new role as a mother. Unfortunately, things change and people change. A feeling of unease came over me the last couple of years that I worked and I knew that it was time to step out of nursing.
I stumbled upon a book called “Money Making Mom” by Crystal Paine. That is were I first learned about blogging and that is when I decided to become a blogger. I started my blog initially as Mama B’s Inspired Homemaking. So, if that name rings a bell that is why. I realized that while I love homemaking and do think others may need help there, I want to deeply enrich your life when you read my posts. I want you to walk away, hearing my sentences in your head as you do a task that may help you in the journey of loving your life.
Embracing the Simplified, what does it mean?
In 2012, my hubs and I went to Ireland and it changed my life. The simplicity of life in a lot of the country was something to be admired and I really fell in love with it all. After 2 weeks in this other world, we came back to America to the hustle and bustle and I was pretty taken aback. The overabundance of choices, living to work, even the grocery store…it was all overwhelming. My husband and I decided shortly thereafter that we wanted to love our life and live to really ENJOY it, not just WORK.
It is a long journey though. You can only come to the morning through the shadow. And through the shadows we did trudge.
For several years in our journey, I was in quite a bad place. We were trying to get my husband out of a career he no longer loved which meant I worked long hours. My life was filled with all the busy, hurried, exhausted, annoying things that no one wants around. That was a mindset problem exacerbated by a rough schedule and a toddler. I was completely uninspired. By life!
I had a bit of a wake up call when reading the Bible one day. Proverbs 31 was a huge proponent for me to stop feeling sorry for myself and EMBRACE my role as a wage earner, homemaker, mother, and more. Since then, I have been on a mission to simplify every aspect of my life so that I have more time to do what my heart desires and spend less time on all the other stuff.
So, what do I have to offer YOU?
When you are in the thick of motherhood, a career, and home life, it is so hard to come up for air. I get it, there is only so much time in a day. I hope to create processes and plans that will help you not only achieve what you want and need to achieve each day (people gotta eat…3 times a day!), but with less stress and hopefully some time left over for those things you really want to do. I do this by offering
- Meal planning strategies for the busy household that still wants to eat healthy and nourishing foods, not fast food.
- Goal setting tips so that you can achieve the best life, the one you really want.
- Planning for your day, month, year and beyond so that you aren’t missing the really big picture.
Money is a huge subject that people usually shy away from. Not here! I want you to get your budget going, save your money, and spend it intentionally. My Personal Budget series of posts are a great place to start with your money. I also am a budget coach and love to help individuals one on one to get their finances under control and be able to do more with their life because of it!
Intentional living is a bit of a trend. But here is the deal, YOU get to choose what is in your life and your home! Being intentional with our resources and our choices is so needed in this overworked and overloaded society. I feel it is important that we consider the outcomes to our actions every day from the small act of recycling to the large and heartfelt act of giving to a charity in need. I hope this is good for your soul just as it has been for my own. You will discover:
Cleaning and organizing made simple and easy so that you can get it done and have more time for fun!
Get on my mailing list to be updated when I post something new or have some goodies to share!
Want to get to know me better?
I am a wife to Mr. Hubster, a mama to Little Mister, and a mama to 3 fur babies. I have a ridiculous love for cats and dark chocolate. I love planners, colored pens, pretty much anything that is old and worn with age, and I have a strong desire to read all of the books from before my time. Matter of fact, I love simplifying my home, but one day I hope to have a huge library…rolling ladder and all!
Besides spending my time on this blog, I also love to go out in nature, teach my son about the beauty and richness of the world, and cook amazing (and healthy…mostly) foods. My dream is to one day live on a farm with chickens and goats and lots of barn cats!
Thank you for joining me in this journey of Embracing the Simplified life. Grab a cup of coffee and rest for a bit! You deserve it!
