I have heard it so many times. Women got the wrong end of the stick. In all reality and fairness, I think men did. That is not to say that I don’t loathe my monthly visitor. I mean, really, who doesn’t? There is just something special about being a mother and carrying a child (something that men cannot do) so much more. Since using essential oils, I have noticed a remarkable difference in my monthly cycle. Essential oils have some really great wellness benefits to them. There are a lot of oils to try out that are great for us ladies. I have composed a short list of essential oils every woman needs.
*Keep in mind that I am not certified and am in no way attempting to diagnose or treat ailments. Please see a medical provider if you need either of those services.*
As with any symptom, you may have to try a few different oils before finding the right fit for your body. These are just a few of the top oils for women specifically. Oils and pregnancy are not discussed here. That is a whole other long post for itself.
I really cannot say enough good things about Clary Sage. It has so many properties that are just amazing for women. Nature was taking care of us for sure! During premenstration (that time a couple of weeks leading up to your period) this may be used topically by rubbing on your lower abdomen. It may also be taken in a capsule to help with strong symptoms and with menopause. This is found in the Clary Calm blend which is my best friend to help soothe my mittelschmerz (the pain with ovulation).
*I love that word, mittelschmerz, the symptom not so much:)*
So, you may smell like a hippy, but that is okay:). I have always loved the smell of Patchouli so it is a no brainer for me. But, you will either love it or hate it I believe. Need some convincing to love it? It helps to calm emotions when inhaled. Rub it onto the back of your neck or diffuse it to feel chilled out.
Any menopausal woman will probably tell you the same thing, hot flashes are killer! Use peppermint and clary sage to the back of the neck when a flash hits to help cool off!
There are a few things that we just don’t really like to talk about being women. Low libido is one of those things. Whether it is caused by childbirth, menopause, or just being tired, it is a real thing that needs to be taken care of. Ylang Ylang is an amazing floral scented oil. The smell is enough to want to wear it every day, but the effects, awesome! It helps tame hormonal imbalance, anxiety, mental fatigue, and get this…it helps with low libido! Yes, this one is one to use every day!!! It is another one in the Clary Calm and Whisper blends. Apply to the abdomen, pulse points, or diffuse it to help with these mental and physical symptoms.
Sleep issues, migraines, anxiety, stress, and concentration issues. Any of that sound familiar during “that time of the month” or for a premenopausal woman? Yeah, I thought so! Lavender can be diffused or applied topically to the area of concern or to the pulse points to assist with calming different issues.
This is the #1 essential oil for women for sure. Use Clary Calm for hormone imbalances, pms, cramps, hot flashes, and mood swings. Totally sounds familiar, right? This one comes in a roller bottle. Just roll it on pulse points and your lower abdomen and you will be ready to face the day!
I love to use this one just like a perfume. Put it on your neck and wrists and you will not only smell amazing, but you will have the added bonus of diffusing your anger, increasing libido, and balancing your hormones.
The name says it all. Balance is a grounding blend that helps keep your emotions, well, grounded. Apply it to your feet every morning for consistency.
Clary Sage, Patchouli, Lavender, Peppermint, and Ylang Ylang are not the only oils that can be used for us ladies. There are so many options for oils. Best bet is to try it and see if it helps you. My recommendation is to try one oil at a time. That way you can test it out to see if you have any negative side effects and to test its effectiveness.
Have you tried any of these recently? Which one? And what oils are your favorites for your own women’s health issues?
Need to get your hands on some of these oils now? Check out this post to see how you can order them.
*Dr. Axe is probably my favorite resource for essential oil use (except my essential life book, which is an absolute must!). Check him out, you will be happy that you did. *
